A Guide to a Scenic walk around the Alhambra.
This 1 hour walk (if you walk at a steady pace) takes you from the city center to the Alhambra forest, around the walls of the Alhambra, and back down the other side of the Alhambra back into the center. It’s a great walk because of the great views and the nature – you’re surrounded by greenery and the sounds of rushing water and birds. All within a few minutes from the heart of the city.
An added bonus if you didn’t know: you can actually visit the grounds of the Alhambra even if you don’t have a ticket. If you enter at la Puerta de la Justicia (just a 15 minute walk from our starting point in the city center), you can wander around the Alhambra seeing attractions such as the Carlos V Palace and the Arab Baths. You can’t see the highlights (the Nasrid Palaces, Generalife Gardens and Alcazaba) without a ticket but you can see the grounds of the Alhambra as part of your walk.
I cover all that in this video. Continue further down for a map and further info.

I mention in the video the incredible water system that the Moors brought to the Alhambra (at the 5:38 minute mark of the video) and reference a BBC article. Here’s that article: The Spanish city where water defies gravity.
