Estola Reserva Wine Review
4.75 Euros, 7.2/10 for us
This is one of the better wines in the under 5 Euro category and ranks with some of our favorites like Abadía Mantrús, Mayor de Castilla and Arteso. Really there aren’t too many differences among these 3 and Estola – except the price. That’s why at 3.15 Euros, Abadía Mantrús is still my favorite among this group. Otherwise though, this wine is just as good and still very good value for the money.
Unlike most of the other wines though (which are either from Ribera del Duero or Rioja), Estola is from the La Mancha (just south of Madrid). And It’s not just made from Tempranillo grapes, there’s some Cabernet Sauvignon thrown it.
Description: A full-body wine with character. Fruity, packs a bit of a punch with it’s tannins. A great wine with meats and pastas. You can’t go wrong.
Value: It’s a good value wine along the competitors in this category I’ve mentioned above. It’s it the best quality/price ratio? Probably not, only because you’ll find the same for a bit cheaper if you look for it. But still a very good wine for the price.
